Mortal Kombat 4 is the best version of MK
It seems that 97.4 percent of humanity has played a version of MK at some point. This is the best version so far.

First 3D game in the Mortal Kombat series.
Midway is back, after three successful titles, here is Mortal Kombat 4! The first in the series to be played in 3D. The franchise is mainly known from the arcade halls (of which this was the last title) of the 90s, but now brought the concept to the living room.

It is especially known for its bloody and violent gameplay and very brutal fatalities. This involves a specific combination of buttons, where you brutally finish off the opponent. You can only do this when the health bar is completely empty and "Finish Him!" is called out. The button combinations were really not easy and were not publicly available on the internet back then. You bought a magazine with cheat codes or game explanations.

In addition to the Nintendo 64, Mortal Kombat 4 was also ported to the PlayStation, PC & Game Boy Color. The Game Boy Color version is the weakest in the series and received poor reviews. Although a port is often a cash grab, Mortal Kombat 4 for the Nintendo 64 is worth it!

New in the game were, among other things, the weapons that each character seemed to be able to pull out of their pocket. Each with unique characteristics. One had a hammer, the other a sword. If you hit your opponent with the right weapon, you hit him towards the screen and he sticks for a moment. This also added some humor.

It was also new that you could step out, to the left or right. With this, you could dodge attacks like a fireball, very useful!

Unfortunately, it hasn't aged well visually, but true fans should have this. Unfortunately, there are not as many characters as in Mortal Kombat Trilogy. Both games are quite rare, especially complete in box!

A great addition to the series
With many games, it's always a bit nerve-wracking to see if the jump to 3D will result in a good outcome. With Mortal Kombat, this has been executed excellently. The first 3D Mortal Kombat is indeed a superb game and a must-have for fans of the series and other fighting game enthusiasts. Although personally, I prefer Mortal Kombat 4, this game is a worthy successor that makes the series appealing to gamers who prefer 3D. A true fan will of course purchase both so they can enjoy the best of both worlds!
