Latest N64 Star Wars title pushes technical boundaries to the max.
Star Wars Battle for Naboo is the spiritual successor to Star Wars Rogue Squadron, and the final game produced under the contract between Nintendo and Lucasarts Entertainment during the Nintendo 64 era, where Lucasarts Entertainment committed to creating 4 Star Wars titles for the Nintendo 64 as part of Nintendo's "Dream Team." (These were Star Wars: Shadows Of The Empire, Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, Star Wars: Episode 1 Racer, and finally Star Wars: Episode 1: Battle for Naboo.)

Developed by the late Factor 5, Star Wars Battle for Naboo is an absolute technical marvel for the Nintendo 64. This developer had accumulated so much experience in coding for the Nintendo 64 that with this title, they pulled out every graphical trick in the book, maximizing the graphical performance of the Nintendo 64.

Unfortunately, the game was never a commercial success, partly due to its storyline being based on the "prequel" films which were not well-received by the fanbase at the time. Besides being released very late in the N64's lifespan (contributing to its modest sales), it was also extremely expensive due to the large memory size of the cartridge. I personally remember paying 180 Guilders (Haha, that's 90 Euros) for it back then, as it was also an NTSC import game for me.

It's a shame because the game's limited sales have made second-hand copies scarce, turning it into a rare find.

A real pity for one of the most visually impressive titles on the Nintendo 64.
