Rayman 2 copy
Tonic Trouble is a copy of Rayman 2. Strangely enough, this one was released earlier and is from the same creators. Although Rayman 2 is better, this is definitely not a bad game. It's a fun platformer with cheerful characters and colors, enjoyable music, and quirky levels. However, for the N64, there are many good (and better) platformers, which is why this game doesn't receive as much appreciation. If you liked Rayman 2, then you should definitely give this a try. If you haven't played Rayman 2 yet, try that one first.

Unfortunately a Disappointment
The game starts off okay. You fly around in space and drop a chemical drink on Earth that turns vegetables into dangerous and enemy creatures. As the game progresses, it becomes very monotonous and loses its gameplay fun. The music is also very monotonous and lacks variety. A boss fight has normal in-game music. Even the final boss has in-game level music!

I expected quite a bit from the creators of Rayman 2, but unfortunately, this game was very disappointing. Honestly, the only thing Tonic Trouble scores on is the graphics.

In my opinion, it might be better to look around for other titles if you're seeking an entertaining platformer.

Tonic Trouble is a very fun game
Tonic Trouble is a very fun game, simply because you have to collect 160 antidotes. The design is unique, featuring original characters, and the tone is cheerful and absolutely non-violent. The ski route alone is worth it, especially the one at the beginning. It's a great way to relax, especially when it's hot!
Additionally, there are the Magic Mushroom and Grogh, which are definitely not easy to defeat. Once you get the hang of it, you can finish the game in 3 days. Quite different from Zelda Ocarina of Time, where it took me 9 months the first time around.
